Recipe type: Breakfast
Ingredients
1½ Cups White Whole Wheat Flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1¾ cup milk
¼ cup coconut oil (melted)
1 tablespoon honey
1 cup strawberries, chopped small
Additional strawberries for garnish
Butter for the waffle iron
Instructions
Preheat Waffle Iron
Using a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
Add in your wet ingredients: eggs, milk, melted coconut oil, and honey.
Stir till well combined.
Butter the waffle iron to reduce sticking each time you put in batter.
Ladle waffle batter into the waffle iron and sprinkle strawberries into each waffle. Don't overdo it.
Follow the manufacturer's directions to make the waffles.
I usually check mine when the steam coming out of the iron slows down.
Garnish with additional strawberries and serve with warm maple syrup.
Notes
We recommend using organic ingredients where possible.
I did have some strawberries sticking to the waffle iron. I found that less is more. When I used smaller strawberries and not as many, there was a lot less sticking.
