These Healthy Whole Wheat Banana Bread Pancakes are the perfect way to start your day with a wholesome and delicious breakfast. Made with ripe bananas, 100% whole wheat flour, and a touch of natural sweetness from honey or maple syrup, they taste just like banana bread in pancake form. Dense, filling, and packed with real food ingredients, these pancakes will keep your family fueled and happy all morning long.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey or real maple syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 or 3 ripe bananas, smashed

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Smash Bananas with a fork. Set aside.
  3. Pour in the honey, eggs, milk, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter into the center of the dry mixture.  Mix together, but don’t overmix.  You don’t want it to be too tough.
  4. Gently fold bananas into the mixture.
  5. Heat your pan over medium-high heat.  Melt butter to prevent pancakes from sticking.  Also gives a nice flavor.
  6. Add pancake batter by pouring or ladling it into the pan.
  7. Brown the first side, flip, and repeat.
  8. Serve with warm maple syrup. (The Real stuff!)
