5 Minute Kitchen Cleaning Tips for Busy Moms

Being a mom has made me realize that life is an adventure.  No two days are ever the same.  You know what I’m talking about……..last minute trips to the store for things the kids need for school….tomorrow.  Kids getting sick when you have a million other things to do.  Bake sales, field trips, extra laundry, power outages, sick pets, and so much more.  We run this careful balance juggling everything, but so many things can cause those balls to drop.

And yet, with these every changing schedules, we need to make sure our homes are neat and tidy also.  I’m not talking about ready for a magazine photo shoot, but presentable.  It’s really hard to juggle everything when you are living in a mess also.  I rarely have more than 5 minutes extra in my schedule, but what I’ve come to realize is that you can get a lot done in 5 minutes if you work quickly, stay focused, and have a plan of attack.  When you eat real food, the kitchen becomes the heart of the home.  That is to say, it gets plenty of use and can quickly become a disaster.  Today, I am sharing my 5 Minute Kitchen Cleaning Tips to help you make the most of your 5 minutes.

5 Minute Kitchen Cleaning Tips for Busy Moms

Remember to work quickly and stay focused.  You are not going to get much done if you check your Facebook page 3 times in 5 minutes.  Hmmm…….I wonder how I know this?  My sister likes to play music and dance around why she cleans.  It turns her chores into more of a fun time and keeps her moving quickly.

  • Clear the clutter and trash from the counters.
  • Wipe down the sink.
  • Wipe down the stovetop, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher.
  • Sweep floor and spot clean any drips or spills.

Juggling floor tips:  Crumbs can be picked up quickly by using your vacuum.  You can also attach a  damp microfiber cloth to your Swiffer broom and sweep and mop all at the same time.  This can be  especially helpful if you have fur babies and need to pick up pet hair often.

Obviously, this is not deep cleaning.  You will want to set aside more time for that, but it is amazing what you can do in just 5 minutes so that things don’t ever get out of control.  I often think of cleaning as something you do just for company, but I’ve changed my thoughts on that lately.  My family and I deserve to come home to a nice home…….and so do you and your family.  Heck, we spend enough money on that place, we really should enjoy our time there.  Am I right?

Leave me a comment and let me know what other areas of the house are your biggest concerns.  I’ll work on some other 5 minute cleaning routines that we all can use.  Are there any routines that really work for you.  Leave us a comment and let’s get the conversation going.

I can’t let a single day go by without at least dry mopping the floor, thanks to our hairy beast! 🙂

Great quick tips. I am horrible about cleaning my stove well. I do wipe it down once in a while, but I have a gas stove and the grates can be tough to clean, so wiping them down often keeps them some what looking ok.

Stoves really are a pain. I used to let mine get so bad. It’s easier when I keep up with it. Who knew!? It’s not perfect, but much easier when it comes to deep cleaning day.

This post seriously speaks to my soul — especially the part about “five minutes” somehow becoming the most productive part of the day. 😅 It’s wild how a quick burst of focused cleaning can reset not just the kitchen, but your entire mood. I’ve found blasting music helps too — though my version usually involves questionable dance moves and a cat judging me from the counter. Do you have a favorite cleaning playlist, or are you more of a silent speed-cleaner?
