I love Thanksgiving week. Thanksgiving is just like Christmas, but with half the stress. For our family, Thanksgiving has always been a day full of love and food. We have family come from Michigan and now my college son comes home from college. We celebrate the holiday with love and lots of noise. I used to be overwhelmed by the amount of noise that our extended family could produce, but now I have come to embrace the sound as a harmony of happy voices………….although quite clearly, we are slightly out of tune.
Thanksgiving brings with it the perfect opportunity to eat Real Food. Turkey and stuffing in the oven and all of those sides. Wonderful sides like green beans, sweet potato casserole and cranberry sauce. And…………don’t forget the homemade pumpkin pie. These are all family recipes that I have loved for years. Thanksgiving is a celebration of food like no other day.
I should have had him pose with the nice dishes. |
I also give thanks to my Parents, In-Laws, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins who have encouraged me to continue my Real Food change. I appreciate the not-so-easy changes you have made as well, so that my children eat in the way that they need to. I appreciate more than you know, that apples are now being offered as treats. I love my family even more for sending me healthy recipes and not trying to sabotage my efforts. It is hard to make the change and it is so much easier with their support.
