Celebrations Real Life

What to Celebrate in September – Big & Small Moments to Enjoy

The following post includes Amazon affiliate links.  That means a small portion of your purchase will be paid to me as a commission.  The price is the same for you.  I like to share these links to help support the cost of running this blog and to be a resource to you.  I like to make things easy for you and as always…..keep it real.

September is one of my favorite months. The air starts to feel a little crisper, the kids are settling into their new school routines, and the excitement of fall is right around the corner. I often say the best part of summer is September.  It’s the perfect month to slow down, gather your family, and celebrate life’s little moments. At Juggling Real Food and Real Life, we believe that every month gives us a reason to pause and smile – and September has plenty!

Let’s look at some fun things we can celebrate this month (big and small).

Celebrate the Start of Fall

Okay, technically fall doesn’t start until September 22nd, but I think we can all agree that September feels like fall. Celebrate with a cozy family dinner, bring out the fall décor, or make your first batch of homemade pumpkin spice lattes. If you love the cozy vibes, this is your moment!

Back-to-School Traditions

If your kids are back in school, why not celebrate the season with a special breakfast or a “back-to-school” family night? Create a fun snack board, watch a family favorite movie, and let everyone share something they are excited to learn this year.

National Dog Week (Last Full Week of September)

For all my dog lovers – this is a perfect excuse to spoil your pup! Bake some homemade dog treats, go for an extra-long walk, or take some fun family photos with your furry friend.

National Grandparents Day (First Sunday After Labor Day)

Grandparents are such a blessing, and this is the perfect time to let them know just how much they mean to your family. A homemade card, a video call, or even a little dinner party is a great way to celebrate.

National Peanut Day (September 13)

Celebrate with peanut butter monkey bites for lunch, chunky monkey smoothies, or my personal favorite — apples with peanut butter for an after-school snack.

National Cheese Pizza Day (September 5)

I don’t know about you, but I’m never going to turn down a reason to eat pizza! Have a make-your-own-pizza night at home. The kids can top their own mini pizzas, and dinner becomes a family activity. Our family loves making individual pizzas on whole wheat flat breads. Everyone can make what they want, and nobody complains. Just make sure it is extra cheesy!

The Start of Football Season

Whether you love high school Friday night lights, college game day, or NFL Sundays, September is the kick-off for football season. Celebrate with a simple tailgate-style dinner at home — think sliders, nachos, or a big pot of chili.

Celebrate Ordinary Days

Not everything needs to be a “holiday” to be special. Take a random Tuesday night and turn it into Taco Tuesday. Pack a picnic in a beautiful picnic basket and have dinner in the backyard or local park. Or spend an evening looking at the stars. You can simply look for constellations with a naked eye or level up the star gazing with a telescope.  Life is busy, but moments like these help you slow down and reconnect with the people you love.

Let’s Celebrate Together!

September gives us so many reasons to celebrate — from the big holidays to the little “just because” moments. The most important thing is to make time for joy, connection, and fun. What will you celebrate this month? Leave us a comment below or join us at the kitchen table over in our Juggling Real Food and Real Life community on Facebook.
